Sokoto SUBEB Plans To Restructure Primary Education

The executive chairman State Universal Basic Education Board, Sokoto, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, said the board under his watch would not condone laxity from any staff.

He gave the warning while receiving the committee for restructuring of departments and efficiency which was constituted when he assumed the leadership of the board.

The committee was constituted with a view to restructuring and modernising the departments of SUBEB to be in tune with new trends for the progress of education.

Part of the recommendations contained in the committee’s report include establishment ICT Centre, Teachers Professional Development Unit, Planning and Research, Procurement Units. Others are Training and Retraining of teaching personnel and their prompt promotion.

The committee consists of Sokoto State Coordinator UBEC, Abdulkadir Umar as its chairman and the chairman Governing Council Federal College of Education, Tangaza, Dr Abdullahi Magaho as the secretary while former director Quality Assurance of the Board, Abdullahi Muhammad Gobir, permanent members 2 and 3, Alhaji Abdulkadir N. Gada and Alhaji Garba Sarki and other seasoned educationists are members of the committee.

The chairman, who assured of doing everything possible to ensure that teachers’ welfare is significantly improved, commended the LEARN to READ Programme for its initiatives towards reviving teaching and learning in the state.

Turning to the UBEC – SUBEB Smart Model School, Sokoto, the chairman noted that effort is being intensified to ensure its formal take off for the commencement of academic activities.
