As part of activities to mark the second anniversary of its establishment, the Kogi Enterprise Development Agency has flagged off a two days training and empowerment programme for farmers and business owners in Kogi State.
The ceremony took place in Lokoja and featured the unveiling of the Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato, a field grown crop of the agency.
KEDA, an agency under Kogi State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, was established under the law to facilitate and enhance the growth of small and medium enterprises in the state.
In their separate keynote addresses, the commissioner for commerce and industry, Hon Gabriel Olofu and his agriculture counterpart, Hon Jacob Apeh advised beneficiaries to look inward and see beyond planting and harvesting but also see the possibility of creating wealth from the produce.
While delivering her address, the managing director of the agency, Hajia Rekiya Onaivo Sanni thanked the governor for giving the agency the needed support to operate and expressed gratitude to members of her team for their relentless effort to achieve success.
The KEDA boss recalled that the state government established the agency to enhance the scope of SMEs which constitute 75 per cent of business enterprises in any society and to boost the economic and social development of the state.
