A coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Good Governance has described critics of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government as forces against positive transformation taking place in Osun state.

The organisations, in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo yesterday by their spokesperson, Comrade Olalekan Johnson, said those involved in the acts were individuals motivated by political malice rather than genuine concern for the welfare of the people.

The statement read in part: “Their actions are not just personal attacks; they are assaults on the aspirations of Osun citizens who seek a brighter future.” It added, “While the right to critique government actions is a cornerstone of democracy, such scrutiny must be rooted in fairness and objectivity.”

“It is essential that citizens engage in constructive dialogue rather than resort to baseless accusations fueled by political motives. Criticism must be aimed at holding the government accountable while also fostering an environment where policies and initiatives can be improved for the benefit of all.”

The group pointed accusing fingers at the Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that the party appears to be composed of disgruntled politicians who have yet to reconcile with the realities of their electoral defeat nearly two years ago.

They contended that Adeleke’s leadership has ignited hope and confidence among the people, fostering a sense of unity and purpose. They added that this collective spirit will drive the state towards achieving its developmental goals, irrespective of the noise generated by opposition factions.

They urged all stakeholders in Osun, particularly members of the opposition, to engage in meaningful dialogue that prioritises the welfare of citizens over partisan politics.
