Participants engaged in interactive workshops, networking opportunities, and discussions with successful women, all designed to ignite their potential and encourage them to overcome barriers in their personal and professional lives.

At the WIMBIZ 2024 Big Sister Program, Dr. Celestina Eke, a prominent Quantity Surveyor and representative of WIMBIZ, welcomed the students with an inspiring address.

She shared her journey, reflecting on the challenges she faced and the mentorship that guided her.

“Every woman you admire today started exactly where you are right now. What made the difference? Often, it was having someone who believed in them,” she said.

Since its inception in 2016, the program has impacted over 6,000 girls across Nigeria, equipping them with the guidance and life skills essential for personal and professional development.

“We are here to equip you with life skills that no textbook can teach you and prepare you for the exciting journey ahead,” Dr Eke emphasized.

Principal, Community Secondary School Asokoro, Alhaji Sa’idu Ahmed expressed pride in the school’s partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), highlighting the institution’s commitment to empowering youth through entrepreneurship and leadership training.

“We are honored that our students are participating in today’s program,” he remarked.

Ruth Odike, Assistant Programme Manager, encouraged students to engage actively in the sessions and learn from the successful women present.

“By the end of this program, you’ll leave with valuable insights to share with your friends,” she stated.

Chair of the 2024 Big Sister Committee, Folake Adama further motivated the students, urging them to believe in themselves and their potential.

“You are the future, and you will add value to the world,” she affirmed.

The event concluded with a call for self-empowerment, as young participants expressed their ambitions and aspirations, inspired by the support of their “Big Sisters” in attendance. The Big Sister Program continues to be a vital platform for mentoring and inspiring the next generation of female leaders in Nigeria.
