NOA Engages Nasarawa Stakeholders On National Identity, Anthem

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has sensitised stakeholders in Nasarawa State on the newly developed National Values Charter ( NVC) in order to implement the National Identity Policy in the country.

The sensitisation programme was aimed at educating the people on the National  Identity project and national anthem as well as  to communicate government policies, programmes and activities to ensure unity in  the country.

Speaking at the one-day stakeholder engagement/ town hall meeting in Lafia, the director general of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa—Onilu, said the community engagement was to sensitise the people on the need to promote national identity for the unity of the country.

Represented by the deputy director of budget, Malam Ibrahim Umar, the director general, urged Nigerians to emulate the examples of the country’s founding fathers of unity in diversity.

“We want to come together as Nigerians and emphasise on those values that unite use and reconstruct those that disintegrate us.

“Our differences and diversity should be seen as strengths rather than weaknesses,” he admonished.
He explained that the National Identity project is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s task of rebuilding Nigeria.

The director of NOA in the state, Dr Priscilla Gondo- Aluor said Nigerians must not allow foreign values to erode their core values of love, patriotism, resilience, courage, dignity of labour, the sanctity of life, belief in the family as a basic unit of society, justice and fairness as well as care for the environment.

In his remarks, the state governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule, represented by the state commissioner for information, culture, and tourism, Hon Ibrahim Angbolo, said the meeting would foster a renewed sense of patriotism and loyalty to the country.
