Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, yesterday approved N75,000 as minimum wage for the state workers.
He directed the commissioner for finance and accountant general to commence the immediate payment of the new minimum wage to civil servants within 72 hours.

Idris approved the new package while signing it into law at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi in the presence of national union leaders led by NLC president, Mr Joe Ajaero.

He said, “Today, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 I have joined other governors in paying new minimum wage to workers of N75,000 instead of N70, 000 to Kebbi State civil servants beginning from October.”

He added that, as a unionist, he had wanted to be the first to approve the new package, but it was not possible because the committee he had set up had not submitted its report, which was done yesterday.
According to the governor, the government has paid 2023 and 2024 leave grants to civil servants.
