N-HYPADDEC To Distribute Starter Packs To 5,000 Youths

The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has concluded plans to distribute starter packs to 5,000 youths who graduated from its Youth Transformation Programme (YTP) after some delays.

The head, press and public affairs of the commission, Nura Tanko Wakili,  said in Minna yesterday that the youths had satisfied all requirements outlined for the programme.

The managing director of the commission, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, had  been criticised by some youths from Niger State who underwent  training but were yet to collect their starter pack as promised by the commission.

The youths who registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission became apprehensive as the starter packs were not distributed months after the training.

Wakili, however, said the commission’s managing director was appreciative of the patience displayed by the beneficiaries despite efforts by some people to disrupt the process.

He said the commission had already sent notification and invitation letters to the minister of youth development and governors of the six states that participated in the programme for the exercise.

He stated that the distribution would start in the first week of November in Birni Kebbi and end in the first week of December in Kwara State, adding that all the distributions would be done in the state capitals of the benefitting states.

Wakili said, “It is important to note that only beneficiaries of the programme duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission who submitted undertaking letters from their guarantors will receive the packs.”

He gave the breakdown of the 5,000 beneficiaries per state as 1,623 from Niger, 1,011 from Kebbi, Kogi-705, Plateau-365, Kwara-814 and Benue-505.
