The China Cultural Centre in Nigeria launched the Chinese Film Month yesterday in Abuja. It showcased a selection of contemporary Chinese films to promote cultural exchange and understanding between China and Nigeria.

The event organised by NTA-STAR TV Network aims to introduce Nigerians to China’s vibrant film industry.

According to the cultural counsellor, Mr Yang Jinxing, of the Embassy of China in Nigeria, the initiative aims to foster cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Nigeria and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

“This event is very important because China and various African countries, including Nigeria, aim to enhance our friendships and promote cultural exchanges between China and Nigeria.

“Both countries are very important partners, and we hope that through this event, Nigeria will learn more about China. One of the best ways of introducing Chinese culture and people to Nigeria is through exciting movies, drama, and documentaries.” Jianxing stated.

Also speaking, Mr Joshua Wang, CEO of NTA STAR-Network, said, “Star Times is immensely proud to partner with the China Cultural Center in Nigeria, to bring this festival to life and continue our cultural exchange tradition.

“It is a testament to our shared love for storytelling, our appreciation for diverse cultures and our commitment to strengthening the bonds between our two countries.”

The Chinese Film Month builds on existing cultural collaborations between China and Nigeria, including cultural exchange programs, language training initiatives, art exhibitions and music performances.
