Chosen as one of the core training centers for this national initiative, HOBSOF played a pivotal role in providing in-depth, practical fashion design training to aspiring designers. This achievement marks an important step in equipping young artisans with the skills needed to excel in Nigeria’s expanding fashion industry.

The SUPA programme, launched by ITF under the directive of President Bola Tinubu, was part of a nationwide effort to address unemployment by equipping 5 million Nigerian artisans annually with essential skills. HOBSOF, located in Lagos, was chosen to facilitate the fashion component of the initiative, providing participants with the technical expertise needed to excel in the fashion industry, both locally and internationally.

Over the course of the training, the 250 participants were guided through a curriculum that included garment construction, pattern drafting, sewing techniques, and fashion business management. The school HOBSOF, in collaboration with ITF, ensured that the trainees received practical, industry-ready skills that would empower them to create high-quality garments and enter the job market or start their own fashion businesses.

Ms. Habibat Adeoye Adebanjo, the Director of House of Beebah School of Fashion, highlighted the dedication of the trainees and the impact the program has had on their skills: “The SUPA program has given these 250 individuals the tools they need to succeed in the fashion industry. Weve seen incredible growth in their abilities, and many of them have already started working on their own fashion lines. This initiative is changing lives, and were honored to be part of it.”

As part of their final assessment, each trainee presented a unique outfit they designed and produced during the foundation course. The projects included kaftans, skirts, shirts, and other creative pieces that reflected their newly acquired skills. The presentations were judged on creativity, technical execution, and attention to detail, with each trainee receiving personalized feedback to help them improve further.

The success of the SUPA programme at HOBSOF was also reflected in the testimonials from participants. One of the trainees, Esther, shared her experience: “Before this program, I had no idea how to properly draft patterns or sew garments professionally. Now, I feel confident in my skills and am ready to start my own business.”

Another participant, Faith, spoke about how the training has transformed his career prospects: “The SUPA program has been a life-changing experience. Ive gained valuable skills that I can use to support myself and contribute to the fashion industry in Nigeria and internationally.”

House of Beebah School of Fashion continues to be a beacon of excellence in fashion education, providing a platform for aspiring designers to acquire the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the competitive fashion industry. With the ongoing support of ITF industrial training fund, the school is excited to continue its role in shaping the future of Nigerias fashion talent.
