In response to the ongoing conflict, economic challenges, and displacements affecting millions in Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), has enhanced its humanitarian initiatives, a statement from the Saudi Embassy in Abuja said yesterday.

It said the aim was to provide essential assistance to vulnerable communities, fostering hope and resilience amid adversity.

In Gaza, where humanitarian needs have escalated dramatically due to the Israeli conflict, KSrelief has initiated one of its largest relief operations to date.

The statement said more than 54 aid flights and eight maritime shipments had been sent, carrying emergency food supplies, medical equipment, shelter materials and various logistical support items. The aid includes 20 ambulances, 30 generators and 10 water tanks, all intended to deliver immediate assistance to those impacted by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Furthermore, KSrelief has provided 39,200 ready-to-eat meals to address the urgent nutritional needs of families facing significant food shortages. This operation also encompasses specialised support for displaced individuals, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the pressing humanitarian crisis in the region.

In addition to immediate relief efforts, Saudi Arabia has committed over $80 million to fund long-term aid projects in Gaza.

“These resources, distributed through collaborations with prominent

international organizations such as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian Refugees, World Food

Programme (WFP), World Health Organization (WHO), United

Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Palestinian Red

Crescent Society and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), focus on critical areas such as food security, health, water and sanitation, shelter, and emergency response. “This funding is designed to establish sustainable support systems that will continue

to benefit Gaza’s population even after immediate relief efforts have been concluded,” the statement added.
