Foundation Registers 750 Vulnerable Persons Into Nasarawa Health Insurance

No fewer than 750 vulnerable persons in Nasarawa State have been registered to access health care through the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Scheme by the Maikaya Development Foundation.

The foundation ‘s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mohammed Maikaya, disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony of the enrollment of the beneficiaries yesterday in Lafia.

The CEO said the beneficiaries were selected from across the 174 electoral wards of the 13 local government areas of the state.

He said the one-year subscription of the beneficiaries have been fully paid, adding that the gesture would go a long way in complementing the effort of the state government in providing quality health care for the people of the state.

According to him, the foundation is a nonprofit organization aimed at improving the social, economic, and health well-being of the people.

He explained that the body has been embarking on a lot of empowerment programmes targeting at youths and women since it commenced operation within the last 10 years.

“We touch the lives of people or communities based on need, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

”We will continue to add value to the lives of our people in any way possible to make their lives worthwhile,” he stated.

In his remarks, Executive Secretary of the State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Yahaya Bawa-Ubam commended the foundation for reaching out to the vulnerable in its many programmes.

He noted that the health insurance scheme  was aimed at providing easy and accessible out-of-pocket healthcare services to the people to enhance their well-being.
