The distribution took place across all five Emirate Councils in the state, namely Hadejia Dutse, Gumel, Ringim, and Kazaure Emirates. The beneficiaries were pupils of public primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

Speaking when she flagged off the distribution exercise at Dangan Tsaure Nomadic School in Dutse, Mrs Namadi said the project is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative for Basic Educational Support, championed by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President.

She noted that the distribution of the exercise books is in line with Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, under which access to basic education for all children was emphasised, as was returning all out-of-school children to the formal education system.

“I’m happy to welcome you all to the flag-off of the distribution of 60,000 copies of exercise books under the Renewed Hope initiative, which is targeted at pupils of public primary/ junior secondary schools across Jigawa state.

“I am optimistic that the donation of the exercise book will support parents by reducing the money they spend on their children as they resume school for the first term. Also, it will encourage the students to learn and enhance the academic performance of our children,” Namadi said.

She urged the parents, therefore, to support the government’s effort by ensuring their children attend school regularly to prepare them to be good leaders of tomorrow.

In her remarks, the executive secretary of Jigawa State Agency for Nomadic Education, Hajiya Ramatu Muhammad, commended the first ladies for the gesture.

She noted that the gesture would encourage school enrollment, participation and retention among children, particularly nomadic ones in the state.

… Advocates Regular Breast Cancer Screening
The wife of Jigawa state governor, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, has called on women in the state to have regular breast cancer screening for timely treatment.

She made the call when she returned from Abuja after attending the annual national campaign against breast cancer, which is identified as one of the deadly diseases killing hundreds of women annually across the world.

Hadiza Namadi said that regular screaming will give a chance for early detection of the disease for timely treatment, and this will help in preventing the disease from reaching chronic state which is very difficult and complex in responding to treatment.

“During the National celebration held in Abuja, we learned so many issues around the breast cancer and the need for us to intensify and cascaded the campaign against it in our state.

” We thank God that we have functional basic healthcare facilities virtually in every political ward across Jigawa state. We will advocate for strengthening the supply of testing and Diogenes kits in all the facilities as we continue sensitising our women to regular screaming, ” Mrs Namadi said.

She commended the wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for gracing the occasion through her representative, the wife of the Speaker, Hajiya Fatima Abbas, and described it as very encouraging.

She also commended the founder of the Medicare Cancer Foundation (MCF), Dr Zainab Bagudu, who organised the occasion for strengthening policymakers participation in the campaign against the disease and described the effort as worthy of emulation.
