The Gwandu emirate council in Kebbi State has commenced its annual horse racing and cultural festival, which will run from Monday, November 18, to Saturday, November 23, 2024.
This was disclosed by Mustapha Usman Ka’oje, the chief coordinator of the events in the emirate, at the flagging off of the Agricultural Show and Fair on Monday.
He added that the event would be followed by cultural sports and the opening of the horse racing International tournament at Emir Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar race course in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, between November 19 to Friday, Nov 22, for Grand Durbar before the Grand finale of horse racing on Saturday, Nov 23.
Ka’oje further disclosed that lovers of horse racing from Dubai , Niger, Benin Republics and other African countries are already in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi to grace the occasion.
He noted that at the end of the final event, trophies and other gifts will be given to number 1 to 5 winners.
The coordinator commended Governor Nasir Idris for reviving the event and funding its activities.
He thanked the Gwandu emir for choosing him to head and coordinate the whole programme.
