Nigerians have been urged to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and unity and be committed to developing their respective communities.

The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade 1, who gave the charge, said such a spirit in the life of his subjects at home and abroad is responsible for the development recorded in the community.
Oba Alabi spoke in Ilawe-Ekiti at the weekend during the 2024 Ilawe Ekiti Unity Day celebration and N500 million fundraising for the take-off of the construction of a teaching hospital annexe in the community.

The monarch, who noted that the people always show love and support for the development of the community, said, ” It is pertinent for me to stress that our people are always united in pushing for developmental projects, and we take pleasure in telling anyone who cares to listen that we are proud indigenes of Ilawe Ekiti.

“This patriotism has always been our morale booster in whatever we embark upon. We have the people and the tenacity to pursue our goals. I also want to always acknowledge my people’s cooperation and unity of purpose. Such was demonstrated during my two-year tenure as the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers Chairman from 2019-2021”.

Earlier, Barr. Femi Bankole, chairman of the 2024 Ilawe Ekiti Unity Day Planning Committee, thanked God for the developmental strides witnessed by the community so far, saying they would not have been possible without Oba Alabi’s foresight, doggedness, and leadership traits.
