Airtel Africa has announced the appointment of Dinesh Balsingh as the new CEO of Airtel Nigeria, effective November 1, 2024.

Balsingh’s appointment marks a significant leadership change for the telecommunications giant, as he takes over from Carl Cruz, who returned to his home country, the Philippines, at the end of October.
Balsingh, a seasoned telecommunications leader with over 24 years of experience, is no stranger to Airtel’s operations in Africa. He previously served as the Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Tanzania, where he spearheaded the company’s impressive growth through strategic pricing, product innovations, and strong execution in a competitive market. His leadership resulted in notable gains in market share and revenue in Tanzania.

Before his tenure in Tanzania, Balsingh was the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Airtel Nigeria, where he played a crucial role in driving the company’s commercial strategies.
derstanding of the Nigerian market, combined with his extensive experience across various regions, positions him well to lead Airtel Nigeria into its next phase of growth.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO of Airtel Africa, Sunil Taldar, expressed confidence in Balsingh’s ability to lead Airtel Nigeria. “Dinesh’s deep expertise in telecommunications, coupled with his strong operational execution and knowledge of the Nigerian market, will be instrumental in supporting our mission to transform lives across Nigeria,” he said.

Balsingh, who holds an MBA from Thiagarajar School of Management, takes the helm at a time when Airtel Nigeria is poised for continued expansion and innovation. His leadership is expected to strengthen the company’s position in the competitive Nigerian telecom market, focusing on enhancing customer experiences and driving further growth in the mobile and mobile money sectors.
