Akobundu spoke at the end of the second batch of a capacity building workshop on peace and conflict management he organised for the monarchs, town union leaders, women and youth bodies, and local vigilantes.

The People’s Democratic Party legislator said he facilitated the workshop to contribute his quota to forestall incessant security breaches and conflicts in some communities in the district.

“As custodians and promoters of our traditional values of peace, brother lioness and good neighbourhood, it is imperative that you continue to be equipped with emerging trends in resolving conflicts,” he noted.

“In my determination to ensure that as many stakeholders as possible benefit from this programme, I decided that it is done in batches, hence today ends the second batch in the series.”

He assured the participants of his readiness to accommodate their contributions and views towards conflict resolution, tasking them not to shirk their responsibilities as chief security officers of their domains.

In a response on behalf of others, the chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council, Eze (Dr) Eugene Ndimele appreciated and described the workshop as a novelty event.

In a remark, the party chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, represented by the organizing secretary, Hon Obinna Okey said Akobundu had demonstrated committed leadership by organising the workshop.

Contributing, a youth leader, Mr Benjamin Apugo, lauded the Senator for his numerous contributions towards the development of the district and his recognition of the need for security.
