NBTI Trains Adamawa Indigenes on Agro Produce, Food Preserving Method

National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) trains Adawama indigenes on innovation technology skills for evaluation and preservation of agro-produce to enhance food safety in Adawama central senatorial district.

Director-Genera of NBTI, Dr. Patricia Chukwu, made this known at the closing of the three days training program with the theme: “Technology skills transfer on innovation technologies for evaluation and preservation of Agro produce to enhance food safety in Adamawa.”

The Director General of NBTI who was represented by the Center Manager, Alhaji Salihu Babayi, said the programme intends to raise enterprises by commercializing and upgrading of local technology which will in turn create jobs and alleviate poverty in the country.

Babayi said the training was jointly organized by the National Board for Technology Incubation in collaboration with Makplan Global Investment Limited and was facilitated by Senator representing Adamawa Senatorial District, Sen. Aminu Abbas.

“It may interest you to know that NBTI is a parastatal of Federal Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology saddled with the responsibility of establishing and managing the operations of Technology Incubation Centres (TIC) and Parks while ensuring the commercialization of research and development results, from research establishments and related innovation efforts in line with the objectives of the Technology incubation Programme, the centres are established across the 36 states of the federation and with some extensions.”

“The main aim of this programme is to teach the Adamawa indigenes processing of agricultural produce to enhance food security in the Central Senatorial District.”

“This training programme is designed to improve the capacity of participants and empower them with knowledge of skills of handling agricultural products, post harvest losses and food preservation to enhance food security in the country in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, and one of the cardinal points of NBTI”.

According to the Director General, the NBTI will continue to pursue with vigor its mandate with a view to seeing that Nigeria maintains its enviable position in the comity of the nation in innovative entrepreneurship and industrialization.

“over the years we’ve consistently trained staff, entrepreneurs, youths and women in innovative skills as well as produced thousands of innovative products”.

Also speaking, the facilitator and Senator representing Adamawa Central, Sen. Aminu Abbas, reiterated his love and commitment for his constituents which led to empowering his people with knowledge of Agricultural Bio- technology and Innovative methods of food preservation and processing to enhance food security, job creation and poverty alleviation in his constituency and beyond.”.

Senator Abbas, who was represented by Dr. Adamu Babikkoi, Special Adviser to the Adamawa State Governor; Ahmadu Umar Fintiri, said the skills being taught the participants is among skills required in achieving food sufficiency in the district.

“I want to assure you that this training would empower you to become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to the Adamawa’s agricultural Economy”.

“I am also optimistic that you people were equipped with technical skills in modern farming and practical knowledge of Biotechnology, food preservation and processing which will ensure food security in the district, state and entire country”.

“I will like to commend NBTI and other facilitators for this laudable empowerment project and well organized training.

Senator Abbas who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology, urged participants to input their new skills learned into practice in order to improve their livelihoods as well as contribute to the economy.
