Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Development, Professor Ali Pate has called on northern traditional leaders to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, urging them to pray for the president’s success in addressing the country’s challenges.

LEADERSHIP Friday reports that the Tax Reform Bills the presidency sent to the National Assembly for consideration stirred a barrage of rejection and criticism from traditional rulers and other persons in positions of authority from the region.

They argued that bills are not fair to the people of the Northern region and that passing and implementing them will further worsen poverty in the region.

Speaking at the third quarterly review meeting of the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee on Primary Health Care Delivery in Bauchi, Pate acknowledged the numerous challenges facing Nigerians but expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s administration is committed to resolving them.

The minister emphasized the importance of traditional leaders’ support, stating that their prayers and backing are crucial in helping the president overcome the present challenges.

Pate disclosed that the federal government had revitalized 4,000 primary healthcare centres across the country.

He added that the government plans to revitalize more healthcare centres nationwide.

The minister also highlighted the launch of the Human Capital Opportunities For Property and Equity (HOPE) programme, which has raised $700 million to support the health sector.

Additionally, he mentioned the medical relief programmes approved by President Tinubu, aimed at reducing the cost of health services and drugs for Nigerians.
