The All Nations Evangelism Ministry at its Fourth Synod in Makurdi, Benue State has decried any tax increase on the heels of excruciating effects of removal of fuel subsidy, saying it would exacerbate socioeconomic challenges.

This, the church noted, would affect households, leading to a decline in their overall standard of living.

Chairman of Synod and president, Christian Association of  Clergies in Nigeria (CAC), Archbishop Yimam Orkwar, in a communique issued at the end of the Fresh Oil International Convention held in Makurdi, urged the National Assembly members to consider calls by Nigerians for wider consultations before the passage of the tax bills for the purpose of inclusivity.

Orkwar also called for caution in the efforts of the present government to partner with France at a time some neighbours’ partnership with the country over time had nose-divided, adding that caution should be applied by learning the lessons from the other countries.

The Synod urged all Christians to embrace discipleship and missions, following the footsteps of the Lord Jesus Christ.
