Niger State government has secured a $10 million World Bank-assisted fund to check gully erosion in some parts of Mokwa local government area.
Governor Umar Bago disclosed this in Mokwa during a visit to monitor some projects.
Bago, who was conducted round the affected areas such as Kpege, Efu Abebe and Eti Sheshi all in Mokwa local government area, said the situation had posed a serious threat to the affected communities.
He said competent contractors with track records, had been identified to handle the project which would commence soon.
The governor urged residents of the affected communities to cooperate and support the contractors for their overall good.
He reassured them that his administration was poised to ameliorate their suffering.
He also reassured that all projects initiated under his administration across the state would be completed to serve the desired purposes.
At Enagi, headquarters of Edati local government area in continuation of his project monitoring tour,
the governor, who praised the contractor handling the five-kilometre township road for the quality work on drainages, however charged him to speed up work on the road construction.
