A non-partisan socio-cultural group, Club De Pals, has celebrated members for their exceptional contributions to community service, presenting awards during its annual reunion in Abuja.
The organisation comprises Tiv elites and professionals and has championed socio-economic development in Benue State and beyond for over 25 years.
At the event, Godwin Ityoachimin, a former governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, highlighted the importance of unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
Acknowledging the recognition, Ityoachimin said, “I am not given to receiving awards like that, but when I was convinced about the integrity of the club and what they stand for, I had no option but to accept the honour from the organisers, and so I do not take it for granted at all.”
Ityoachimin, who has expressed hopes of running for the Benue governorship in 2027, pledged further support for the group’s initiatives, including a token contribution towards the proposed clubhouse project.
Pal Richard Nduul, President of Club De Pals, explained that the awards foster nation-building by recognising individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of Tiv Land, Benue State, and Nigeria through various professional and public service roles.
In Ityoachimin’s case, the selection committee commended his sustained efforts in advancing his community’s development.
The awards, conferred in multiple categories, highlighted the club’s annual gathering.
