Lt. General T.Y. Buratai (Rtd) has extended his heartfelt felicitations to the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, in a message filled with admiration for the president-elect’s statesmanship and vision.

Buratai, former chief of army staff of Nigeria and a distinguished diplomat, hailed Mahama’s reelection as a victory not just for Ghana but for Africa’s collective democratic progress.

“On behalf of my family, I am delighted to convey my heartfelt congratulations on your resounding reelection as president of the Republic of Ghana and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. Your triumph at the polls is a testament to your visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to national development, and the profound trust reposed in you by the good people of Ghana,” Buratai stated.

Buratai lauded Mahama’s remarkable political comeback as a testament to his enduring leadership and the trust placed in him by the Ghanaian populace. He expressed confidence that Mahama’s presidency would usher in a new era of prosperity and stability for Ghana.

“Your excellency, your reelection further serves not only as a victory for the democratic ideals that Ghana so ably champions in Africa but also as a reaffirmation of your unparalleled capacity to steer your great nation toward greater heights of prosperity, stability, and unity. Undoubtedly, your great wealth of experience and statesmanship are assets not only to Ghana but also to progress across West Africa and the African continent,” Buratai emphasised.

As an advocate for peace and development in Africa, Buratai expressed optimism that Mahama’s leadership would lead to remarkable milestones in governance, economic growth, and citizen empowerment in Ghana. He highlighted the inspiration Mahama’s vision and dedication would bring to future generations.

“May your tenure be marked by success, good health, and the realisation of your noble aspirations for the people of Ghana. Once again, accept my warmest congratulations and assurances of my highest esteem, Your Excellency,” Buratai concluded.

It would be recalled that John Dramani Mahama has achieved a remarkable political resurgence, emerging as Ghana’s president-elect in a tightly contested election. This victory marks his return to the nation’s highest office after serving as president from 2012 to 2017. Mahama’s success is widely seen as a reaffirmation of his leadership qualities, resilience, and the unwavering trust of the Ghanaian people.

Mahamudu Bawumia, the ruling party’s candidate, gracefully conceded defeat, underscoring Ghana’s democratic maturity. The peaceful election process and its outcome reinforce Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of African democracy.
