The Concerned Fika Community Elders, Youths, and Women Solidarity Group has commended the federal government and the lawmaker representing Fika/Fune federal constituency, Mohammed Buba Jejere, for establishing the Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry in Fika, Yobe State.

The group’s unanimous endorsement of the bill to amend the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act CAP A 12 laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004 is a significant step towards realising this vision.

Reading a communique after a meeting at the town hall centre in Fika, Ibrahim Bawa said the proposed college would promote agricultural development, foster community engagement, and address obstacles to progress.

He said that the Fika Community is eager to collaborate and provide support for the college’s establishment, showcasing its dedication to the project’s success.

He explained that “ Fika town has a rich history, dating back to 1800 when it became part of the Northern Nigeria British Protectorate. Today, it remains a peaceful and thriving local government headquarters in Yobe State,” he said.

According to him, the college will contribute to the growth of agriculture and forestry in the region, enhance economic development and improve livelihoods.

He added that the Fika Community is committed to collaborating and providing support for the college’s establishment.

The group remains resolute in their support for the college, despite opposition from some individuals.

“We welcome any meaningful development in Fika for the betterment of our people, we’re ready to render any necessary support to ensure the success of this important project,” he said.
