Adamawa State House of Assembly (ADHA) has dismissed the allegation that it passed a bill stripping the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, of his position as chairman of the state Council of Chiefs.

Reacting to reports that the Assembly also made the office rotational among emirs and chiefs in the state, the Assembly said on Friday that its bill was misinterpreted.

The chairman of the state House of Assembly Standing Committee on Information and member representing Mayo Belwa State constituency, Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu who made the clarification, stressed that the Lamido remained the chairman of the state traditional council.

He explained that in contrast to the falsehood being peddled, all other emirs and chiefs are still answerable to him.

“Section 18 (2) of the bill says the Lamido of Adamawa shall be the chairman of the council of chiefs in Adamawa State. So there is nothing like the Lamido being stripped as the chairman of council of chiefs in the bill,” he stressed.
