Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has approved the early payment of salaries and pensions to all civil servants and pensioners on the state government’s payroll ahead of the Christmas celebration.

The payments, made on Friday, December 13, 2024, reflect the Governor’s commitment to ensuring financial ease for residents during the Christmas season.

A statement signed by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Dauda Iliya which was obtained by our correspondent on Saturday said, “Governor Zulum directed as usual, that no affected Christians, Muslims and others should while away their time without feeling a sense of belonging during and after the yuletide, considering the multi-inclusivity and socio- cultural togetherness that exists between the peaceful people of Borno, especially at this period.

“His Excellency, Professor Babagana Zulum has done it again, as 2024 December credit alerts for salaries and pensions have started hitting accounts of beneficiaries to ensure Christians and other faithful prepare for a better yuletide on time”.

The statement also highlighted Governor Zulum’s consistent track record of timely payments, emphasising his commitment to ensuring the welfare of civil servants and pensioners.

Borno State was among the first to implement the N70,000 minimum wage, a policy applauded as benefiting to the state’s workforce.

During the presentation of the 2025 budget at the State Assembly, Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s focus on improving workers’ welfare.

This includes the upgrade and integration of the state’s salary payment system, implementation of the new N72,000 minimum wage, and the resolution of outstanding gratuities for deceased workers.

The Governor further appealed to residents to continue praying for peace in Borno State and the nation at large during this Christmas season, while acknowledging the positive impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on the lives of Borno’s citizens and beyond.
