Founder of the Lilian Ike Foundation, Amb. Chinwe Lilian has harped on the need for the federal government to enact and enforce laws that criminalise all forms of violence, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and child marriage.

Lilian, in a press statement issued in Abuja, said this would effectively address and end violence, especially gender-based violence.

To curb GVB from the root, she said there was also the need to teach boys about consent, respect, and healthy relationships early on.

Regarding her impact in fostering education and women‘s empowerment, Lilian was recently honoured with a Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities for Exemplary Humanitarian Contributions by Prowess University Deleware USA to celebrate her commitment to improving lives across Africa and beyond.

She further called for a comprehensive education to help them understand their role in preventing violence and challenging harmful stereotypes.

She explained that innovative programmes have a strong history of impactful programs for youth and girls rooted in empowerment, leadership, and advocacy.

She expressed concern that the lack of funding and resources is one of the challenges in empowering women.

“A few weeks ago, we organised the 5th edition of our leadership/education summit for youths, emphasising capacity building and mentorship.

“We also organise a mentorship advocacy programme through the Visionary African Women community where we focus on confidence building, safety, and future planning.

“We spearheaded initiatives such as the Visionary African Women Summit and the Lilian Ike Foundation Education Summit, now transitioning to Global Visionary Leadership Summit, which has empowered countless individuals through education, mentorship, and advocacy,“ she said.

Reacting to the honour, Amb Chinwe Lilian expressed gratitude and a renewed commitment to expanding the reach of her humanitarian endeavours.

“This recognition is a testament to my efforts and a call to do even more. I dedicate this award to all the women, children, and communities we have impacted through our work,“ Amb Chinwe said.

As a celebrated women‘s advocate and visionary leader, Amb Chinwe has consistently championed the importance of women‘s empowerment, leadership, education and personal development.

This milestone further cements her reputation as a global changemaker, inspiring others to take meaningful action to create a better world.
