The Kano State House of Assembly reverently requested the former chief of staff to Governor Abba Yusuf, Shehu Shagagi, to bow and leave when he appeared before them for screening as a commissioner nominee.
Shagagi and six others appeared before the house during Tuesday’s plenary, presided over by the speaker, Hon. Ismail Falgore, for screening as members of the state cabinet, as requested by the state governor on Monday.
When he appeared before the house, the former chief of staff read his biography, after which the majority leader and member representing the Dala constituency moved a motion for him to bow and leave, considering his experience and track record in government.
The house unanimously agreed and asked Shagagi to take his bow and depart.
Others who appeared before the house for screening include Dr Dahiru Hashim, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, Dr Isma’il DanMaraya, Gaddafi Shehu, Abdulkadir AbdulSalam and Nura Ma’aji.
Speaking to Journalists shortly after their screening, they all promised to utilise their experiences to bring development to the state and contribute to achieving the government’s mandate.
However, in his remarks after the screening exercise, the majority leader, Hon Husseini, pointed out that the nominees are all credible young persons with vast experience to move the state forward.
He said they were screened based on areas of concern in the relevant vacant ministries, and he expressed confidence in them delivering the state and achieving good dividends to the state.
