Coalition Distances Self From Protest Groups

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups (CCSG) has dissociated itself from ongoing protests and media engagements being conducted by various groups operating under the guise of civil society organisations.

In a statement signed by the coalition’s president, Oladimeji Olakunle Olatunji,  CCSG emphasised its commitment to structured, lawful and constructive advocacy.

The coalition noted that its attention had been drawn to activities by individuals and organisations purporting to represent civil society groups through protests, agitations and confrontational media tactics.

It described these actions as uncoordinated and inconsistent with its principles, urging the public and government institutions not to confuse such activities with its mandate.

“We wish to categorically state that CCSG is a registered entity with a clear mandate, structure, and commitment to addressing critical national issues through constructive dialogue, research, and strategic advocacy,” the statement said.

While reaffirming the constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, the coalition underlined the importance of adhering to lawful and constructive methods of engagement.
