Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, has commended Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital for its dedication to advancing cardiovascular health in Nigeria.

Speaking at the 8th Annual Abuja Cardiovascular Symposium (ACS), held recently,  Dr. Salako praised the hospital’s efforts in addressing the pressing issue of sudden cardiac death through education, innovation, and collaboration.

The symposium, themed “Sudden Cardiac Death,” brought together over 800 healthcare professionals from Nigeria and beyond, including specialists, doctors, and nurses. Organised by Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital, the event focused on life-saving interventions such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and cardiovascular care algorithms.

In his remarks, Dr. Salako lauded the hospital’s commitment to reducing country’s reliance on medical tourism. He emphasised the need for healthcare workers to remain dedicated to improving the nation’s healthcare system and collaborate with the Federal Government in combating the increasing burden of cardiovascular diseases.

One of the significant moments of the event was the 2nd Annual LM Iseko Memorial Lecture, delivered by the President of the Nigeria Cardiac Society, Prof. A Odili, who emphasised the importance of teaching basic life support skills at all educational levels, describing it as a vital step in preventing sudden cardiac deaths.

Group Managing Director of the Limi Hospital Group, Dr. Iseko Iseko, expressed gratitude to the event’s attendees, speakers, sponsors, and partners for their contributions. “This symposium reflects our shared vision of a healthier Nigeria. It is a step forward in our mission to provide advanced cardiovascular care and foster a culture of continuous medical education,” Dr. Iseko said.

Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital’s leadership in cardiovascular medicine was further underscored by its ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery and train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The event’s outcomes reaffirmed the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling sudden cardiac death and other critical health issues, setting a strong foundation for a healthier and more resilient healthcare system in the country.
