The National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA) has established a water production factory in Abuja community aimed at fostering economic empowerment and enhancing development.
According to a press statement by the secretary of NOUNAA, Dr. Alimi Etsu, the foundation for the water factory was laid at the proposed Alumni Village in the Kuchyako district of Kuje Area Council.
The ceremony was led by NOUN vice chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters represented by the deputy vice chancellor (Administration), Professor Isaac Butwats.
Professor Butwats praised the alumni’s commitment to initiatives that stimulate economic growth and empower the youth. He emphasised that the university would continue to support projects that contribute to employment generation and entrepreneurial skill development.
The alumni association president, Ambassador Ifeanyi Kingsley Obukwelu, described the water factory as a strategic investment aimed at facilitating self-sustaining initiatives for the university and its surrounding communities. He expressed optimism that the project would generate job opportunities, inspire entrepreneurship among the youth, and make a positive economic impact.
