Ayedun community in Oke-Ero local government area of Kwara State has sought collaboration between the state and the local government for the establishment of a higher institution in the community.

President of  Ayedun Development Association (ADA),  Mr Idowu Ogunshola, stated this yesterday at an event to honour sons and daughters of Ayedun and other distinguished guests.

Ogunsola said the community was willing to partner with government on infrastructure development in the community.

He said the community would play its part through collaboration with the local, state and federal authorities and their agencies, including private organisations, to make the project a reality.

“No amount of money raised here today can be sufficient. We, therefore, want connectivity, relationships, interrelationships and collaboration with the local, state and federal authorities,” he said.

This, he said, would help in facilitating significant projects to the community, particularly in the area of bringing tertiary institutions to the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a bill to establish Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery had earlier been proposed by Rep. Tunji Olawuyi (APC-Kwara) in the House of Representatives.

Ogunshola said schools of nursing, polytechnics and universities as well as healthcare services through the upgrade of the existing hospitals, would help in enhancing the development of the community.

He also called for assistance in the areas of agriculture, manufacturing industries and other related infrastructures for the community.

Ogunshola further stated that road constructions to link other communities to facilitate inter-state economic development would also help in reducing the plight of the residents.

According to him, many ring roads within the town are calling for the attention of kind-hearted individuals and corporate bodies, including additional motorised boreholes and tree planting. (NAN)
