It was gathered that the victims were burnt beyond recognition when the two buses had a head-on collision.
An eyewitness told LEADERSHIP Sunday that one of the buses from the Ikare axis had a tyre-burst which led to loss of control and a head-on collision with the bus loaded with fabrics from the Owo axis.
The Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ibitoye Samuel, confirmed the accident saying that a total of 14 people were involved out of which 13 were burnt beyond recognition while only one was rescued alive with serious injuries.
Ibitoye said, “Immediately after the collision, the two buses went up in flames. Men of the FRSC, Police and Fire Service were swiftly at the crash scene for rescue.
“The injured victim was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo while the dead ones were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
“Drivers are advised to exercise patience on the roads and passionately maintain their vehicles while passengers are encouraged to speak out against dangerous driving because road safety is a concern of all.”
