A Bauchi-based organisation, the Al-Jadid Foundation for Orphans and Vulnerable, has solicited donations from wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to enhance the execution of its laudable objectives to beneficiaries.
The foundation’s secretary-general, Abdullahi Idris Yusuf, made the plea at the organisation’s sixth anniversary in Bauchi yesterday. He said that the body is in dire need of funds to further its functions and assist orphans and the vulnerable who desperately need assistance owing to the global economic meltdown.
“This foundation lacks a source of income except the regular contributions by its members, which are grossly inadequate to meet the pressing needs of the vulnerable, orphans, and the sick who were at both homes and medical facilities at various domains always looking for assistance.”
Malam Abdullahi Yusuf recalled that the foundation initially started extending its gesture at the students’ level, where it augments education, tuition, or boarding fees, which one finds difficult to make payment for.
In the same vein, the national president of the foundation, Malam Katada Idris, who was at the anniversary celebration in Bauchi, recalled that the organisation, which assisted over 2,000 orphans and Vulnerable people during its six years of existence, also executed laudable programmes in Toro LGA and Kaduna orphanage.
Malam Idris, while dwelling on the foundation’s plan to ensure that vast numbers of people benefit from its gesture, appealed to both public and private bodies or organisations, including governments at all levels, as well as petty traders and marketers, to join forces with the foundation to assist people in need.
He explained that now that the foundation has widened its scope to state and national levels, it is desperately scouting for funds from donors, philanthropists, individuals wealthy in society, and corporate entities, including zakat providers, all in the effort to extend humanitarian gestures to the needy.
