The long-awaited 2023/2024 pilgrimage, postponed due to the Israeli-Gaza conflict, finally commenced on January 2, 2025.

During the pre-departure orientation, FCT Minister of State Dr Mariya Mahmoud explained the importance of adhering to the laws of the host countries. He urged the pilgrims to embody the spirit of Nigeria.

Mahmoud encouraged them to pray for the nation and its political leaders throughout their pilgrimage.
The minister called on the pilgrims to act as ambassadors for Nigeria and avoid any behaviour that could reflect poorly on the country or embarrass the FCT.

She also recommended they seek knowledge and share their experiences during this significant spiritual journey.

In her message, Mrs Grace Adayilo, the FCT Head of Service, echoed the call for prayer for Nigeria, highlighting the need for spiritual responsibility while in the Holy Land.

Gloria Dandam, the Director of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, expressed gratitude to Mahmoud, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and others who facilitated the pilgrimage, noting that it is more than just a trip; it is a profoundly spiritual endeavour.

The vice chairman of the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Isaac Komolafe, also urged the pilgrims to commit to their journey responsibly and avoid any actions that might lead to absconding.
