Speaking during the event which was oraganised in collaboration with the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria(ACPN) Abuja Branch, at the Christ Academy International School, Gwagwalada, the Chairman of PSN, Abuja Branch, Pharm. Ifeanyi Ikebudu stated that the Career Talk was aimed at explaining to the students who a pharmacist is, what they do and their importance in the health sector.

He noted that many youths in the country chose careers without having an inkling of what the profession is all about, adding that the career talk was an opportunity to guide the students into making a better choice in their chosen career.

Speaking to the students, one of the pharmacists, Idoko Agumage explained that a pharmacy is a healthcare professional involved with production, proscription and dispensing of drugs.

“Pharmacists is an interesting course with many specializations. Pharmacists are men of honour that work towards creating a better health service delivery in the world,” she said.

She noted that the pharmacists have a critical role to play in the health sector and explained that any students wanting to pursue the profession in future must be interested in basic secondary subjects like Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Also speaking, another pharmacist, Steven Chubiyojo explained to the students that there were no wrong professions but urged them to choose professions that they have talent and passion for.

“ You have to choose a profession you are convinced and passionate about. Your passion is your destiny. Some people have different talents but you just have to pick the most important talent. The one you do with greatest ease. Your best guide is also prayer and fasting. Pray to God to put you through your career,” he said.

The Pharmacists also visited an orphanage called St Mary’s Orphanage Home in Gwagwalada with food stuff and cash tokens.
