Police Recover N22m Cash In Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command recorded the arrest of 2,322 suspects from the 1182 cases during the preceding year, 2024, with 678 cases and 895 suspects subsequently charged to court.

“A total of one thousand, one hundred and eighty-two (1182) cases were recorded, resulting in the arrest of two thousand three hundred and twenty-two (2322) suspects”, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwalu Musa Mohammed, revealed.

The commissioner told a press briefing in Bauchi Monday that of these figures, 678 cases and 895 suspects were subsequently charged to court.

He explained that 48 cases involving 82 suspects culminated in successful convictions, as 396 cases involving 816 suspects remain pending trial, while 30 cases are currently under investigation. Commissioner Auwalu Mohammed told the press that his Command documented 73 cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) during this period under review.

He gave the recovery 23 AK-47 rifles, 4 G-3 rifles, 3 SMG rifles, 22 fabricated or cut-to-size firearms, as well as 5 fabricated pistols and 746 live ammunition of various calibres.

The commissioner outlined others: 32 magazines, 100 cartridges, 68 cutlasses, 26 Knives, 10 motor vehicles, 29 motorcycles, 69 handsets, 28 tricycles, and a whopping cash of N22,038,000.

According to him, the successes were facilitated by critical information provided by the public, who remained essential partners in ensuring a safe and secure environment in the state.
