Gov Yahaya Bello Hosts North Central APC

As the preparations for the  2023 general election campaign gathers momentum, Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello has received the North Central Zonal Executives of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

While welcoming the delegation from the zonal office, Yahaya Bello took time to showcase the strategy that he is deploying to unite the state and the party. Bello sees conflict resolution as a critical tool to uniting people.

He said, “In my capacity as the executive governor of Kogi State and the leader of APC in Kogi State, I will continue to foster unity in the party and the state”.

Bello assured the national leaders of APC that Kogi will deliver the highest votes at both presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.

Bello reiterated his commitment to resist all diaspora politicians that want to hijack the party in the name of supporting the presidential candidate.

He said, “Any Support Group that is coming to Kogi must come and support all our candidates at both National and State Assembly election. They must also be registered with the party.” Bello added that all campaign offices will be collapsed into one in Kogi State and same will be replicated in all the 21 local government areas.

In his address, the chairman of APC in Kogi State, Hon Abdullahi Bello thanked the team for exploring the confluence of opportunities through their visit. He said, “It has become very important to have this interface with the Zonal Executives so that they can know the level of preparedness of APC in Kogi State. I also commend the North Central Zone for doing a wonderful job in the Zonal level. I appreciate the leadership style of our leader in the state, Governor Yahaya Bello for playing the game according to the rule of the game”. The party chairman expressed dissatisfaction with INEC which failed to upload some candidates’ names to the INEC server. He added that Kogi State was a victim of the bad system which led to the omission of Kogi Speaker’s name as a House of Representatives candidate.

The zonal chairman Hon Muazu Bawa who led the delegation said that they are in the state to see what the party is doing right and where the party needs to do more. Muazu added that he knows what is happening in Kogi because the governor is fully on ground. He said, “We have to come to Kogi to see things ourselves and hear from party officials and interact directly with the governor”.  The zonal leader of the party said, “We have heard the very important point raised by the state party chairman and we will transmit it to the National Working Committee for appropriate action”. He further assured that all grievances in the North Central will be totally settled before entering into the election proper.
