Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC Borno South) on Tuesday visited the headquarters of the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force, ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ in Maiduguri, Borno State and hailed the soldiers’ resilience in the fight against Boko Haram.

Ndume’s visit was aimed at expressing condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a Boko Haram attack on Sabon Gari village, which occurred on January 4, 2025.

The senator sought to evaluate the military’s ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and commended their commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He also prayed for a swift recovery for those injured in the recent confrontation with the terrorists.

On Wednesday, the Defence Headquarters, via a statement from Director of Defence Media Operations Major General Edward Buba, reported that joint air and ground forces had neutralised over 34 terrorists during the attack on the Sabon Gari community.

Unfortunately, the encounter resulted in the loss of six soldiers.
Southern Borno, particularly regions like Mandara Mountain, Damboa, and parts of Askira/Uba local government area, has been facing ongoing security challenges.

These issues have compelled Senator Ndume, who represents the Southern Borno constituency, to engage more actively with military leaders in search of solutions.

During his visit, Senator Ndume privately met with Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai. Recent security breaches, including attacks on Kauji, Wajirko, and Sabon Gari within his constituency, likely influenced their discussions.

The senator expressed his sympathy to the Theater Commander and the troops, recognising the difficulties of the security landscape and commending their courage under challenging circumstances.

“I sincerely appreciate the unwavering dedication and sacrifices of our officers and soldiers in ensuring the safety of our communities. Your resilience is admirable, and we will continue to support you,” Ndume said.

After his military engagements, the senator visited the victims of the recent Boko Haram attack in Sabon Gari, Damboa local government area.

He interacted with the affected individuals, empathising with their hardships and offering moral and financial assistance to help them rebuild their lives.
