A philanthropist, Kingsley Wali, has called on Rivers State government to resuscitate the three state-owned technical colleges in the state.

This is as he advised Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to consider building a world-class technical college with a strong bias in information technology in his home-town, Opobo, instead of a university.

Wali, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, insisted that the state already has enough universities, pointing out that technical colleges will help the state more.

The philanthropist said: “I am informed that the government of Siminalayi Fubara wants to build one university in his hometown of Opobo.

I will rather that we encouraged him to build a world class technical college with a strong bias in information technology in Opobo.

“Government should then go ahead to resuscitate the technical colleges in Port Harcourt, Ahoada and Tombia. We have enough universities producing both unemployable and unemployed graduates. These technical colleges will help Rivers State more.”

Wali further called on Fubara to engage his Bayelsa State counterpart, Senator Douye Diri, to settle whatever lingering disputes over the International Airport Hotel in Port Harcourt.

He said, “In 2025, Governor Sim should engage his brother governor in Bayelsa State and settle whatever lingering issues exist over Airport Hotel. Building a five-star hotel there and a golf course across is an oil well.
