Founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, has prayed for strength for President Bola Tinubu even as he sought the return of a glorious Nigeria.

Fufeyin, who decried prevailing challenges being faced by the masses, became the subject of online discussion over the crowd of worshippers that attended its crossover service and his prayer for President Tinubu.

In his prayer, Fufeyin said: “Father, your children are suffering in Nigeria. This year, cause our leaders, our President and the cabinet to remember the poor. The Nigeria that we used to know, bring it back to us.

“We pray for our President, Bola Tinubu, may God give him strength.”

Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry had captured the attention of millions during the 2025 crossover service held at Mercy City as some widely regarded it as the largest gathering of its kind in Africa.

The event, which brought together worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond, featured fervent prayers, worship sessions, and miracles. However, it was the prophet’s prayer for Nigeria’s President Tinubu that stirred significant debate.

During the service, Fufeyin expressed concern over the economic and social challenges facing Nigerians, calling on divine intervention to restore the nation to its former glory.

The prayer sparked heated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians divided in their opinions.

Critics questioned the rationale behind praying for a leader whose administration has been widely criticised for failing to alleviate widespread economic hardships.

A Twitter user, @Chizoba_okafor, commented: “Which kind prayer be this? Why will anybody pray for T-pain?

Another user, @Mujirat_Aremu, drew biblical comparisons: “See as people dey hungry, you dey pray for Pharaoh. Even children of Israel no suffer for Pharaoh bad like this!”

Others, however, lauded the prophet for seeking divine intervention. @favorSamson wrote: “See as this man packs out massive multitude as Crossover Service… with all the dragging everywhere, still choke.”

Many described the event as a testament to the cleric’s widespread appeal and unwavering dedication to his ministry.

Fufeyin, known for his philanthropic gestures and social advocacy, has consistently drawn attention for addressing national issues through his platform. His prayer for President Tinubu comes at a time when many Nigerians were grappling with economic challenges, including high inflation, unemployment, and a weakened currency.
