Abia State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abraham Amah, has denied that members of the party in the State House of Assembly are planning to dump the party.

The main opposition party in the state has a slim majority of 12 members against the ruling Labour Party’s 11; and the All Progressives Congress’ one.

Amah made the clarification at Abia North PDP stakeholders meeting at Ozu Abam in Arochukwu local government area, urging members of the party to disregard the report.

He blamed “mischief makers” for the report which he described as baseless, explaining that the plan exists “only in the imagination of author of the report.”

In a remark, the host and the immediate past representative of Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency at the National Assembly, Uko Nkole said the report was laughable.

Describing it as “mere distraction,’ he urged the legislators and member of the party to remain resolute on repositioning the party for future elections as “2023 has come and gone.”

He argued that despite being in opposition, the party still parades quality and committed members which he said is an indication that the party is deeply rooted in the state.

The 2015 to 2023 lawmaker used the forum to solicit the stakeholders support and cooperation with Amah, who is from the zone “whether he was your candidate or not.”

Contributing, the publicity secretary, Eric Ikwuagwu said the party is the fear of every other party in the state, describing the others “as hybrid of PDP while PDP has organic follower-ship”.

He likened the PDP to a tree shading its leaves during dry season to give way for new ones and assured that “henceforth, internal democracy will reign supreme in the party.

The zonal chairman of the party and a former chairman of Bende local government council, Gabriel Elendu, in an address of welcome earlier, explained that the meeting was very crucial.
