To promote education in Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf has distributed free school uniforms to 789,000 pupils across 7,092 primary schools in the state’s 44 Local Government Areas.

The event took place at the open theatre of the Kano Government House on Monday.

Governor Yusuf urged parents and guardians to ensure their children attend school regularly, stressing that education is key to a brighter future.

“This is expected to boost pupils’ morale, encourage them to focus on their studies and improve the teaching and learning process”, he stated.

According to Yusuf Kabir, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), free uniforms will help families facing financial challenges meet their children’s educational needs.

Commissioner for Education Ali Haruna Makoda noted that the ministry has made significant strides in training and retaining personnel and providing timely teaching and learning materials.

He commended teachers for their efforts in reciprocating the government’s commitment to quality education.

The distribution exercise, which began on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Government House, Kano, is part of the administration’s efforts to address the issue of out-of-school children in the state.

Makoda Added that by prioritising education, the government aims to empower the next generation with the tools they need to succeed and contribute positively to society.
