N-HYPPADEC  Seeks Transparency, Accountability Through FoI Committee

National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has inaugurated its Freedom of Information (FOI) committee to ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery.

The managing director of N-HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa made this known during the inauguration of the committee and training with the theme; “Empowering Accountability Through Freedom Of Information FOI” held in Minna.

Sadiq Yelwa said that this is in compliance with the federal government policy for every federal government institution to constitute the committee as one of the reforms of civil service not to operate in secrecy.

He emphasized prioritizing accountability and transparency in service by promoting the procedures and laws of public service for efficiency.

Represented by the special assistant to the managing director, Professor Yasin Abubakar, he charged the 11-member committee to live up to their responsibility by working assiduously to achieve its purpose and assured them of full support in carrying out the mandate successfully.

He stressed the importance of the FOI committee and therefore urged the team to swing into action  in order to achieve good results.

In his remarks, the Attorney General of the Federation represented by a director in the  Ministry of Justice, Barrister Godwin Garuba applauded the commission for been the first to inaugurate the FOI committee.
