A joint security team comprising the police, military and other security agencies has killed five members of an armed gang suspected to be a secessionist group.

The security operatives killed the hoodlums during an operation on Umugem Road, Ufuma, Orumba North local government area, at about 12. 30 pm yesterday.

The security team, according to the spokesman of the state police command (PPRO), superintendent of police, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, during the operation, also razed down the criminal’s camp, recovered four undetonated improvised explosive devices (IED), two AK47 assault rifles, one pump action gun, and one 75-volt battery with other incriminating items.

He said that the security team was still continuing operations in the area to track down some members of the gang who escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds.

“The success of the operations is attributed to the collaboration and coordination among the various security agencies.
