The governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, immediately dissolved his cabinet.

In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa directed the affected cabinet members to hand over all government properties in their care to the accounting officers of their respective ministries.

The governor, however, retained the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo, SAN and the commissioner for finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac.

Aiyedatiwa hinged the reason for exempting two commissioners from the dissolution on the critical nature of their duties.

He states, “The governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the dissolution of the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

“However, the Governor has exempted two cabinet members from the dissolution due to the critical nature of their duties.

“They are the Attorney General and commissioner for Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo, SAN and the commissioner for finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac.

“All the affected cabinet members are to hand over all government properties in their care to the accounting officers of their respective ministries.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked the executive members for their service and contributions to the development of Ondo State under his administration and wished them well in their future endeavours.”

Meanwhile, the governor also disbursed N35 million in interest-free microcredit revolving loans to 51 widows of fallen heroes in the state yesterday.

Aiyedatiwa presented cheques to the beneficiaries during the Final Parade, wreath-laying, and empowerment programme for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at the Government Cenotaph in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, he described the occasion as a culture of honour. He urged citizens to reflect on the profound impact of the service rendered by the fallen heroes while remembering the families they left behind.

The Governor further described the event as a solemn tradition to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s fallen heroes and appreciated the contributions of living veterans.

While noting that 61 widows benefited from the state’s interest-free microcredit loan scheme last year, Aiyedatiwa assured that the increased funding would accommodate more beneficiaries.

“The Micro-Credit Loan Scheme to the widows of the departed heroes at zero interest rate remains a unique programme which shall be sustained irrespective of the economic situation. This is our little way of supporting their businesses to enable them to take care of the families left behind by their breadwinners,’’ he said.
