Secondary school students in Bauchi State yesterday took to the streets to protest plan by education authorities in the state to separate boys and girls in public schools.
LEADERSHIP recalls that Bauchi State Government said it had become necessary to operate uni-sex schools in the state to tame the tide of the moral decadence and other forms of deviant behaviours among teenage secondary school students in the state.
Last week, commissioner for education, Dr Aliyu Usman Tilde, announced the partitioning of secondary schools in the state according to sex, with separate resumption time for the students in some locations.
The protest is coming as schools in Bauchi resumed for a new academic session after a long holiday.
