The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has tendered more documents used in the election to support his petition.

Ighodalo and the PDP in the petition marked EPT/ED/GOV/02/2024 are contesting INEC’s declaration of Governor Monday Okpebholo as winner of the election.

Kenneth Mozia, who conducted the petitioners’ presentations at the instance of Oyeyipo also tendered CTC of Form EC8E (summary of results from local government areas collated at the state level)

Documents also tendered before the tribunal by counsel to the petitioners are Certified True Copies of  Form EC8Cs, covering the 18 local government areas of the state, among others.

While the counsel to INEC did not object to the admissibility of the two documents, counsel to the second and third respondents objected.

On other documentary evidence, counsel to INEC, Governor Monday Okpebholo and APC, Kanu Agabi (SAN), Onyeachi Ikpeazu, (SAN) and D.C. Denwigwe (SAN), objected to the admissibility of the documents.

The respondents’ counsel said they would be abducing reasons for their objection to the petitioners’ CTC documents at the final address stage of the petition.

In his ruling, Justice Wilfred Kpochi provisionally admitted all the documents tendered in evidence and marked same as exhibits.

He said, “Learned counsel to the respondents shall state their reasons for their objection at the address stage,” before adjourning further hearing to January 20, 2025.”
