Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have arrested a notorious gang leader, Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, alongside his accomplices, Buhari Saidu and Musa Ahmadu Suleiman, in connection with the brutal murder of Ibrahim Danfulani over love rivalry.

FCT Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said police investigations revealed that Nishi was angered by Danfulani’s intentions to marry a woman in whom he had made significant financial investments, and consumed by jealousy and frustration, Nishi, along with his accomplices, attacked Danfulani with knives, leading to his tragic death on November 27, 2024.

The police also said, “adding to their crimes, the gang also stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, which they reportedly took as compensation for Nishi’s perceived financial losses.”

However, a breakthrough in the case came when Nishi, who had fled the scene, was tracked down and arrested in the neighbouring Nasarawa State by Police operatives.

“Reports indicate that he was in the process of recruiting new gang members to carry out another heinous act: the murder of the woman at the center of the dispute,” the police said.

SP Adeh further said that the swift and coordinated response by the FCT Police Command, with crucial assistance from residents of the Agaita community in Karu, ensured the arrest of all suspects.
