Abia First Lady Distributes N6m, Bags Of Rice To Charity Homes

Wife of Abia State governor, Priscilla Otti has distributed N6 million, 180 bags of 50kg rice, other food items, and toiletries to six charity homes in the state.

In addition, caregivers in the homes, which are three each in Umuahia, the state capital, and Aba were given cash gifts to support them and appreciate their dedication and hard work.

The homes include: Ahiaeke Motherless Babies Home, Agape Charity Home, Avodim, Ipupe-Amuba Ubakala, and So-Said Charity Homes for Vulnerable Persons, Amibo Ubakala.

The others are St. Vincent De Paul Center for Mentally and Physically Challenged Persons, Umuafai Ndume Ibeku, Ngwa Road Motherless Babies Home, Aba, and SDA Motherless Babies Home, Aba.

Speaking after the exercise, Mrs Otti said the gesture is one of her ongoing efforts to support vulnerable persons, the needy or less privileged communities in the state.

Represented by the wife of the deputy governor, Adaeze Emetu, she emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to uplifting and proritising the welfare of the less privileged.

The commissioner for Women Affairs, Maureen Aghukwa, and the special assistant to the governor on Poverty Alleviation and Vulnerable Groups, Ifeoma Thomas, thanked Mrs Otti for her impactful initiative.

Responding on behalf of the homes, Rev. Sister Maria Anita Ogbonna of Ahiaeke Motherless Babies Home and Madam Oyibo Okonkwo of Agape Charity Home lauded the first lady for the gesture.
