The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led executive to oversee the party’s affairs in Rivers State.

The national publicity secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, said the party’s reaffirmation was in compliance with the judgment of the Rivers State High Court and pursuant to provisions of the constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

This came barely a week after the deputy national publicity secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi,  said the NWC was yet to recognise the Ewor-led executive.

It added that the party leadership had not met over the Rivers State High Court judgement which sacked the former party executive in the state.

The declaration had contradicted the position of his boss, Ologunagba, who had said the party, upon receipt of the court judgement which stopped the Aaron Chukwuemeka-led exco, now recognises Ewor-led executive.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, Abdullahi, accused Ologunagba of acting in personal interest.

However, Ologunagba, in a statement, said the PDP restated its obedience to the judgment of the Rivers State High Court to avoid a repeat of the painful scenario in Plateau State where the party lost many seats won in the National Assembly and the Plateau State House of Assembly in the 2023 general elections as a result of non-compliance with a 2020 court judgment against the PDP congresses which produced the then party executives in Plateau State.

The PDP noted that it had no option than to abide by the judgement of the Rivers State High Court, which in suit number PHC/2301/CS/2024, nullified the ward, local government and state congresses of the party in Rivers State conducted on July 27, August 10 and August 31, 2024 respectively, given that the judgement not being appealed, set aside or stayed by any court of competent jurisdiction.
